(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)

With passion you have great enthusiasm for something. It’s like a healthy steady hum. Passion allows you to enjoy your work intensely regardless of deadlines.

Adrenaline is merely a hormonal response that produces a quick, strong burst of energy. It’s like an unhealthy jolt. Adrenaline gives your body a rush of energy and heightened perceptive abilities to help you get out of danger. However, many people use an adrenaline response much as they would caffeine — to get through the day and to stay at peak performance. Unfortunately, using adrenaline all the time weakens the immune system and drains energy.

Passion is a sustainable, healthy pleasure that comes from a sense of connection with yourself, a project, or a higher power.

It is often hard for people to distinguish between an adrenaline rush and passion. To eliminate adrenaline, you’ll need to get your needs met, underpromise, and develop a strong personal foundation.
