Many, if not most, goals are set trying to fill what is perceived as a “skill gap.” Have you ever thought, “If I were only better at X, look at all I could do”?

Wow, what fun, trying to accomplish goals based on nonexistent skills!

Wonder what would happen if you set goals based on your strengths, using skills you already have? Do you think you might have a beter chance of achieving them?

By the way, if you want to improve a skill, make that your goal. The problems arise when you need to have a preexisting skill in order to achieve some other goal.
