S:0198 Distinction: Simple vs. Easy

(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)

These two words are frequently used interchangeably, but there is a huge difference. Many things in life are simple — money, a diet, spiritual beliefs, relationships — yet none of these are easy to acquire. For instance, these days information and knowledge are easy to acquire, but implementing them can be a real challenge.

In general, the more you stick to the simple path the easier you will find it to achieve your outcomes. When things cease to be easy delegate, eliminate, even procrastinate, to create … simplicity.

Coaching Point: Is there something simple that you want to do but haven’t started? What do you need to make it easy?
