(An unmet Need causes us to feel empty, incomplete or less than whole. Fulfilling a Need gives us freedom to be ourselves.)
One of the more subtle needs is the need to be properly recognized and given credit for a job well done. Less subtle is how we feel when someone else gets the credit for our work!
The cost to you of having this need and not getting it met can be frustration, anger and feeling victimized. And the payoff when you do receive the credit can fall far short of the effort you put in.
The reason to heal this need, if you have it, is to be free to choose where you are spending your energy. This need can cause you to say “Yes” to activities that do not honor your values, simply for the carrot of receiving credit from the outside. With this need healed you are fully paid from the inside simply by the doing.
