(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)
It seems that lots of people believe in giving back. Some of them give back to “balance the accounts” for something they have received. Others give back even before they receive in order to create some kind of psychic imbalance that they believe, or hope, will result in something coming to them. Others give back simply because that’s how they were raised and they believe they should in order to be a good person. There is certainly nothing wrong with giving back, however, you can shift to a higher way of being.
Giving is different from giving back. When you give, truly give, you have no attachment to an outcome. The whole point of the giving is because you feel good doing so. When you have reserves and give from the overflow, you can give without attachment. You have probably experienced giving many times and know what it feels like.
Giving back comes from the head.
Giving comes from the heart.
Enjoy both, but notice how much stronger you feel when you simply give.
