(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you easier and quicker.)

We think of desire being better than needing, even better than wanting. But desire comes with its own baggage.

When you desire something, strongly or casually, you are creating a level of suffering. To suffer is to feel pain or loss or deprivation.

So how does desire lead to suffering? When you desire something it means you don’t have it now. Desiring is a future-based state of mind. Whatever you desire lives in the future and you won’t be satisfied until you get it.

What happens when you get what you desire? Satisfaction from getting it? Surprisingly, no.

Satisfaction comes from being momentarily freed from that which you desire. Satisfaction is about being present with what you have.

Sure, have goals. Work toward them. Be intentional. Be in action.

But letting go of the future, letting go of desire, allows you to experience what is so, now. Only here can you have satisfaction.
