(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)
It s healthy to question yourself, to ask if what you re thinking, saying and doing is appropriate for where you are now and for where you re going. Questioning yourself prevents you from getting in a rut, it helps you refocus and provides fresh energy for current tasks. Questioning leads to clarity.
Doubting yourself is altogether different. Shakespeare said, “Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.” [Steve s 3-Minute Coaching, April 14, 1999] Doubts are about fear and uncertainty.
Doubting yourself slows your progress.
When you question yourself you accelerate your progress because your healthy review eliminates doubt.
