Decades after graduating from high school and after skipping several class reunions, a man attended his first. It was his first because he remembered having not enjoyed high school. He was an introverted boy who felt socially inept and was never part of the “in crowd.” He had repeatedly said it was not his highest and best time.

At the reunion several people greeted him enthusiastically. Some even shared stories of how he had been significant to them during high school. Others told warm stories about him to his wife.

He had created his own bad past — his memories were flawed.
