S:0485 Distinction: Initiating vs. Accomodating

(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)

It s always nice when someone is accommodating, willing to go along, be agreeable. If what you want is fine with them and they accommodate your needs, harmony can result.

But sometimes you want them to initiate, take charge, lead, have an inspiration. When you are in this mode, having someone be accommodating is simply not enough.

Coaching Point: Are you being clear when you want someone to initiate? Ambiguity on your part is not a good idea. Be clear about what you want from them and communicate it completely.
