(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)
Inquiry is powerful. Reaction is not.
A calm review of a situation can show you things, teach you things, assist your growth.
A panicked, short-of-breath, Oh-my-gosh, I’m-almost-overwhelmed reaction rarely teaches you anything.
Frequently practice the inquiry of “How did that happen?” and not only will you learn from the answers, you will also be preparing yourself to respond the same way during emergencies.
Coaching Point: The last time you asked this was it inquiry or reaction?
