S:0776 Quote: Cross-eyed

(Quotes are capsules of information, reinforcement or enlightenment.)

“If you look at the past with one eye and at the future with the other eye, you end up cross-eyed.”

Mark McLemore – Former big-league baseball player

Coaching Point: McLemore is talking about the baseball cliche “Play’m one game at a time.” Professional sports players know that today’s game, right now, is the only useful place to put their focus. When they start dwelling on “the game they blew last night” or on what the standings might be after “next week’s homestand,” they will not be focused on today’s game. Have you ever gotten cross-eyed and missed today’s game?
