“Will Power is a character defect!”
Thomas Leonard
Coaching Point: That may sound harsh at first, but think about the energy surrounding and permeating will power. It is a pushing energy. Many people have taught that you need to use will power to make outcomes occur (think: Vince Lombardi and other famous, and highly successful, sports leaders). But to have to use will power means that you are not in the flow leading to your outcomes. A sailboat can get anywhere by tacking and jibing, but not by trying to sail directly into the wind. Instead of using will power try: – refining your environments – adding to your reserves – enrolling others on your journey – changing your timing – or discovering a more compelling want-to which pulls you forward. What will you give up by letting go of will power?
