(Great fears are barriers to experiencing your real life.)

Several years ago there was a popular song, still heard occasionally, titled “Is That All There Is?” It was about self-evaluation, unrequited requests, longing.

This is a refrain you tend to hear from people who have lived a few years and feel they are closer to their end than to their beginning, with unfulfilled dreams.

It’s about them feeling wistful, or worse, of not knowing why they are here, not knowing the purpose of their life.

Not THE purpose of life. THEIR life’s purpose. This fear is personal, not collective.

To eliminate the fear of living a life without purpose put some attention on discovering and knowing your personal values. What do you stand for? What are you willing to die for? What, when you are doing it, gives you the greatest sense of engagement?

When you orient your life around your values you will be led to your life’s purpose. Then, this fear fades.

Coaching Point: Look around. IS this all there is? Or is there more for you, much more?
