(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you easier and quicker.)
It’s easy to get caught up in the work-hard-to-succeed model. Encouragement to do so is all around us. But my Coaching clients (highly successful folks) have demonstrated some compelling alternate views.
For one thing, nobody ever became successful doing something they didn’t like. Even if some outcome is created this way, it leaves a less-than-satisfying taste.
Second, we can’t work hard enough to get where we want…if we’re on the wrong road. Finding your road is more important than ‘muscle-ing’ harder.
Third, even when we become aware of our road, our path, our purpose, there may be speed bumps on it. These are the internal, mind-based programming bits which act as barriers to our success. Such as a belief in working hard! People living successful lives have made a point to become aware of their internal barriers and resolved them.
Finally, the work-hard model tends to cause us to keep our head down, focused, blinders on, unaffected by ‘distractions.’ Those very distractions, of course, may be additional ideas, alternatives, and resources which would help us get what we desire, if we look up and notice them.
Expanded awareness will help you apply your energy in more effective, and happier, ways. And it’s a whole lot better than trying to build more muscle.
