(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)
This Distinction is about the application of knowledge.
A career student hunts from class to class, gathering credentials like they were pelts, always on the lookout for more, but never taking the risk of applying the knowledge. To them it’s about adding to what they know. It’s fundamentally an internal experience.
The lifetime learner is in a class because they want the knowledge to add to their ability to participate in the game of life. They apply their learning to the external.
The classroom is the game for the career student.
The game of life is the classroom for the lifetime learner.
Coaching Point: Are you still learning? Is your game getting better as a result?
