(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you easier and quicker.)

We know about the value of deferring pleasure, how it is considered a virtue and when viewed from certain angles, it is. To not be seduced by current pleasure is considered a mark of maturity.

But since deferring pleasure is a ‘should’ and we don’t do shoulds well or for long a more useful way to deal with deferred pleasure is to look for the greater pleasure embedded within.

That greater pleasure, that outcome you really want, the one which is not here now but has a greater return, when clearly in focus will pull you through the distracting pleasure of the moment.

When you look for and go for the greater pleasure, you’re not deferring pleasure, you’re ensuring it.

Coaching Point: What process do you use to catch yourself falling for the seduction of the immediate pleasure and discovering the greater pleasure within?
