(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you easier and quicker.)
A few days ago a speaker used, in passing, the phrase, “We can do better.” For some reason it lodged in me. Now I see why.
We are, each in our unique way, on the journey of our lives. That journey is energized to be an upward, enlightening, joyous one or a diminishing, downward, struggling one.
The energy comes from inside and outside of us, our environment and maybe more importantly our internal dialogue.
To hear “You can do better” in a lecturing, judgmental, parental, finger-wagging tone is sure to drive you, or keep you, down.
To hear “You can do better” with a delivery and tone that is positive and encouraging is supportive and uplifting.
The phrase is the same. The difference is in the delivery.
Coaching Point: What do you feel when you say to yourself, “I can do better”?
