(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you easier and quicker.)

What is real to you depends on content and perception.

Perception depends on context.

The meaning of content, then, depends on the context within which it is experienced.

Recall an event from your past about which your opinion has now shifted. When the event occurred the meaning of its content (your reality) was shaped by the context you had then. The different view you have of it now is because you see it in a different context. (If you’re struggling for a simple example, think of Santa Claus.)

The data may or may not be different, but your new context has you see the data in a different way. This causes you to have a different experience.

People living highly successful lives have learned to check and recheck data (content) while attempting to see it from different viewpoints (contexts) before declaring it to be their reality.

Obstacles to clarity include opinion, fear, neediness, momentum, group-think, anger, pride, guilt, and shame. In other words, the egoic human condition! Be gentle with yourself. If something upsets you, pause, take a deep breath, and revisit whatever has you upset so you can see it in a different context.

Coaching Point: How aware are you of your current context? Is it up for a review?
