(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you easier and quicker.)

[Imagine Willie Nelson’s nasally voice singing in a darkened venue.]

“And I could cry for the time I’ve wasted
But that’s a waste of time and tears
And I know just what I’d change
If went back in time somehow
But there’s nothing I can do about it now.”

Coaching Point: Do you think the message he sings is a cavalier attitude about the past? I don’t. Looking back brings learning, but wallowing in regrets is an energy sinkhole.

Since there’s nothing you can do about the past, a useful question is what are you going to do now? How are you going to make sure – as sure as you reasonably can – there won’t be future regrets?
