She was a frisky, questioning, adventurous child. Did not like being confined. Every opportunity she would run outside because she wanted to see and experience the world.
That was not good because she was only 5 years old and of course needed to be protected from harm and they were responsible, caring, loving parents.
So her father put a latch on the screen door. (“Screen door” is a tip-off to the time-frame of this tale.) At first she couldn’t figure out why the door would no longer open to her touch.
Then she looked up. And saw the latch. A chair dragged to the door solved her height problem. Then, free once again!
