S:1192 Principle: Signposts and Goalposts

(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you easier and quicker.

Signposts and goalposts are each valid and useful, but they’re different and have different uses.

A goalpost signifies an ending. You may or may not reach a goal. You may or may not be attached to achieving a goal. You may or may not be happy about your outcome. But goalposts always help clarify your intentions.

A signpost is a way to measure progress, to know you are on track. Signposts guide you to a goal. Passing signposts one by one may also energize you.

Coaching Point: Do you use both goalposts and signposts?
