Take your pick. You can focus on the one or on the other.
You can move from choice to choice, dealing with whatever happens, then making a new choice from there.
Or move from worry to worry, about the consequence of your actions.
Pain-avoidance is a valid approach to life. It’s real and normal. Focusing on consequences can (possibly/sometimes/maybe) help you avoid some pain.
But living in a field of choice – knowing you are always at choice – is a place of creativity and discovery which provides an endless stream of delights. And, yes maybe the occasional pain. But you’re at choice how you handle that!
