“It was not so much that I was running away from something—
I was running into myself.”
Michael Singer
Coaching Point: Running away. We learn to run away at an early age, an effective self-preservation technique. When a parent used our full name – and that certain tone of voice – we knew it was time to run and hide!
Learned early, applied often, over many years, running away can become an unconscious response to uh-oh’s, to tension, to a fear of consequence.
But as Singer observed he was really running into something he hadn’t resolved in himself. That’s what he was having a reaction to, not the external situation which triggered it.
You don’t have to run away in order to get where you want to go. Look inward.
Do you know how to resolve the things inside you which are causing you to run away?
