“How am I being misunderstood?”


Coaching Point: This is a sneaky question because being misunderstood is almost always about the sender not the receiver.

If you notice people don’t seem to be understanding what you’re saying, look inward. An old piece of wisdom says, “The communication is in the response.” That means it’s how people respond that’s important. What you want is effective communication. What you want is the result you want. The response people give you shows what they are actually hearing from you.
