(An unmet Need causes us to feel empty, incomplete, or less than whole. Fulfilling a Need gives us freedom to be ourselves.)
The portal to happiness with this Need is Knowing.
If you know, you don’t need others to agree with you. If you don’t know, or at least are not sure, then you may find yourself wanting agreement from others.
Most everyone likes it when others agree with them. Sure, a chorus of nodding heads is nice.
But nice is different from need. If you have a need for agreement and it doesn’t happen, that is uncomfortable. Self-doubt arises. The good news is that experiencing discomfort (or doubt) makes this need easy to identify.
The quickest solution to smoothing out this need is to revisit what you think you know, but don’t. Once you know, doubt disappears. And with it the Need To Be Agreed With.
Coaching Point: Isn’t it nice to win others over to your viewpoint without having the neediness?
