“It’s hard to grab hold of the things we like if they don’t grab hold of us first.”

John Barnes

Coaching Point: Grab hold. Very kinesthetic language. Visceral.

It’s personal.

Yes, when you grab hold of a thing, idea, belief, etc., it is
you grabbing hold of it. There’s something compelling about that. Engaging.

That engagement goes both ways. It’s best when the outcome you are going for is also drawing you toward it. If it’s only a goal, a metric, a finish line that doesn’t excite you, you won’t have the deepest motivation. A “should” is not a “want.”

What’s it like when something you are going for has reached out and grabbed you?
