(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)

You already know this distinction because you have felt the difference between being productive and being hectic.

Having a full and productive schedule can be fun. At the end of the day you can feel a real sense of accomplishment even though you may be physically and mentally tired.

Busy and hectic is largely reactive, no objective for the day, no prioritizing of your actions. It s when you re at the effect of your day rather than being at cause. Busy and hectic is draining.

A successful full day is one in which you feel on top of things by having a clear awareness of what you want to accomplish and what the accomplishments will do for you. That means you have to decide what you want and that s where most people slip from full into hectic. Once you know what you want for the day you can use any of a myriad of planning techniques to successfully execute.

By the way, some people say they can t decide how their day goes. humm…..

Coaching Point: What do you want to accomplish tomorrow and what will that do for you?
