Just the image of those two different situations is illuminating!
There are people (look to politics for some examples) who practice firing people up over negative issues, getting them angry, then leading (running from?!) the resulting angry mob. Maaaay be effective in the short term, but not useful over the long haul because it’s based on negative emotions such as fear and greed.
When you lead a charging horde you are in sync with them, they respect your leadership, they want the same outcomes you do. There is an infectious positive energy, a shared excitement in the possibilities.
Find rallying points which are based on growth, contribution, well being, and similar positive attributes. Then you can lead your charging horde to greatness.
