(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you easier and quicker.)
The phrase “Life on the bleeding edge” has been used for years as shorthand for describing a certain choice of life-style. Its attributes include taking risks, pushing ahead of the competition, being willing to get ‘cut’ in the process, and, maybe, just maybe, accomplishing something. But whether the outcome is what you want or not, the point of this choice is to always be in the mode of charging ahead, where the adrenaline is. Obviously, great accomplishments have been the result of life on the bleeding edge.
Life on the breathing edge is different. Great outcomes also occur here, but with a different energy and attitude.
Breathing edge is about the present. Bleeding edge – the future.
Breathing – being. Bleeding – doing.
Breathing – flowing. Bleeding – pushing.
Breathing – fully aware of what is so in the moment, including resources available to assist you. Bleeding – blinders on, it’s about me, me, me, get out of my way.
(Okay, that last one might be a little harsh, but you get my drift.)
While you might miss the adrenaline and the rush of the bleeding edge, you’ll find that you accomplish essentially the same outcomes just as quickly and at a lot lower cost when you just breathe into life.
Coaching Point: Do you notice how you feel when you’re on the Breathing Edge?
