(Great questions lead to great answers; weak questions, weak ones.)

“What from my past am I projecting to the future as a fear?”

Coaching Point: It’s called Projection. It’s when we assume what we imagine for the future is what will happen. This is true whether we are conscious of our thoughts about the future or not. Most fears are projections.

What’s the source of these projections? The past. Where something happened, or didn’t, someone happened, or didn’t, significant events with emotions. Specifically, unpleasant or even painful times.

It’s therefore understandable that much of what we project onto the future could generate a fearful reaction, great or little.

If you find yourself feeling a bit fearful of an imagined future, a good interrupt is to look at the past for the source then ask of that past whether it should it still be deciding your future.

If you can look at one specific example of a part of your past causing a fearful projection of the future, you will be way ahead of the game. Why? Because few people are willing to look at their ‘stuff’ even though simple clarity will have them experience better futures.

Or are you smiling right now because you’ve already done a lot of inner work and know the pleasure it has opened for you?
