(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value or attitude.)
Some things in life simply can’t be explained. There is no vocabulary for them. But you Know, you get it. You don’t need a logical linear explanation.
The power of a thunderstorm experienced. Especially if you’re in a small boat on a big sea!
The perfection of a dew-covered spider’s web in early morning light. Altered into a different kind of Knowing if, before seeing it, you walk into it!
The emotions you experience when viewing an abstract painting.
The exuberance of a pet welcoming you home.
These are things you Know but can’t Explain.
Knowing and Explaining are complementary skills. Both are useful, but trying to use one in the service of the other doesn’t work.
