Petrichor: The smell of fresh rain on dry earth. (Yes, I had to look it up.)

The smell bursts from the sudden interaction of dry, parched earth with fresh raindrops.

It doesn’t last long. After a few moments, the raindrops overpower the dusty earth and the smell, the aroma, the flavor, the emotions evoked by fresh rain on dry earth fades.

Notice how thoroughly we can experience the full scenario evoked by the mere memory of an experience. Our minds are so powerful – a rich experience while never moving a muscle.

This is an example of taking an ordinary moment – the start of a rain shower – and seeing the extraordinary within.
