(Principles are basic truths that, when applied, cause success to come to you more easily and more quickly.)
We all have internal voices that speak to us. In secret. No one else hears them.
Some are gentle and supportive. Some are harsh, judgmental, and demeaning. This S3MC is about a voice that is between those extremes.
Yeah, but… is the great derailer. It’s the voice that kicks in when you have an idea, or think of an action to take, or want to reach out to someone, but then don’t. Yeah, but… stops you from moving forward.
Yeah, but… is also the great doubter. “Who are you to create that?” “You don’t know how, so why start?” “If it is that good of an idea, someone would have already done it.”
Shakespeare’s great line: “Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.”
His way is a little classier than saying “Yeah, but…” The message is the same.
Coaching Point: How might your life be different if you never again had an internal voice say, “Yeah, but…” to you?
