(Great questions lead to great answers; weak questions, weak ones.)
“Am I frugal with myself and generous with others?”
Coaching Point: The two ends of this Great Question support each other. The more you tend to your end of the deal, the more you have to share with others.
But why would you want to be generous with others? Why not hold on to what you have?
That’s a fair question.
Everything in the universe is energy. Moving from wherever it is now to wherever it will be next. Nothing is static. Although it may appear to be moving slowly, it is in motion. Think of the Himalayan mountains and the tectonic plates.
At the other end of the scale think of light. Particles and waves of energy moving at a scale unimaginable.
People living highly successful lives know they cannot, in fact, do not even try to hold things static. They position themselves in the flows that best support their unique life journeys.
Flows of money, love, creativity, learning, building, awareness, and relationships; the list is as endless as the components of life.
Be frugal with yourself. Tend to your Self first. Fill your cup(s) to overflowing. Then practice whatever generosity appeals to you. Generosity is a “want-to”; there is no useful “should-do” in giving. It induces smiles all around!
What you will experience from your generosity is even more flow – to, through, and around you. Frugal supports generosity, which provides flow that turns into overflow. Energy in motion.
Where do you experience this flow?
