(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value, or attitude.)

This distinction seems obvious. Who wouldn’t prefer to enjoy their life rather than endure it?

Well, it is someone who is going through a particularly tough time. It happens to us all. Sometimes we have to bow our backs and endure what is present in our lives. It can be hard for a while.

This distinction is not about those times. It is about getting caught up in going from struggle to struggle, enduring as regular practice. That is not who you are. Not what you do.

This is a reminder to support those who have forgotten to look for the joy. To lift their eyes. To remind them, “This too will pass.” And, “Talk with me.” Or, “How can I be of service to you?” A person can sometimes shift out of enduring with the slightest loving touch.

Coaching point: Are you grateful you are not enduring anything currently?
