(Distinctions are subtleties of language that, when gotten, cause a shift in a belief, behavior, value, or attitude.)
Most people want growth, particularly personal growth. To be happier/better/smarter/etc. than yesterday. Growth in humans is as natural as growth in plants. Yet when the desire or need for perfection drives growth, that can be a problem.
Perfection is not attainable. Instead, see yourself not as a finished product, but as a work in progress. Keep becoming. Always be willing to discover more about yourself.
Learn from others. Be inspired by others. But never compare yourself to others. Also, never compare yourself to an idealized version of yourself. You will lose that comparison 100% of the time!
Every bump in the road, rather than a test, is an opportunity to learn and grow. Willingness is a natural/inherent energy. It’s in everyone. Tap into willingness to help fuel your growth.
Successful people understand the difference between feedback and failure (see S:0594). Growth also ties into self-acceptance (see S:1130).
